Jack's Barnyard Animal Zoo

donkeyminiature horseCome visit Jack's wide variety of farm animals in our petting zoo area. Several of the animals live on the premises year round, and many of the animals come to share in the fun during the holiday season. In the past years, we have had pigs, geese, exotic chickens, pheasants, sheep, turkey, rabbits, snakes...who knows what we will have this year!

Pictured are some of our regulars. Stella and her daughter Pumpkin (born on Halloween) are Nigerian Dwarf goats. Bella was bottle-fed after her mother rejected her, and has been raised on the farm since she was two days old. Sylvia is a mixed Nigerian Pygmie goat, who just had kids on November 6. The kids are two boys named Herbert and Dwight after the presidents elected on their birthday! Apache, the miniature horse, has pulled the cart rides for more than ten years, but is now too old and will retire to the petting zoo. Ever present, and always popular, is our donkey. Ernie is the second donkey at our farm. It is said that he is part zebra, a zedonkey if you will! Look closely and see if you can spot some stripes on his legs! He joined us after our first beloved donkey, Joe, passed away.

Quarter food dispensers are available in the petting zoo area, and boy do our animals love to eat! Due to safety concerns regarding droppings, our animals are housed securely in pens. A utility sink with antibacterial soap and water is located conveniently in the petting zoo area, and hand washing is strongly encouraged after visiting the zoo. Animals that tend to bite are housed in a double-walled pen so that they cannot come into contact with children. However, all animals may nibble at times, so please heed the posted warning signs when feeding. girl feeding goat
